QUESTION: is this appropriate for a 4 year old or is it too young? by None N 12/3/2011
ANSWER: Absolutely! This is the second basic building set I bought for my grandkids, ages 4,3, and 1. The first set I bought was in August for my grandson's 3rd birthday; his 4 yr old sister loved playing with them so much, one set wasn't enough so I bought the 2nd set as a joint Christmas present as well as extra balls always seemed to need more balls to make some of the designs and the curved pieces. Even though the monetary investment has not been insignificant, this has been the best toy for both of the them to use together or by themselves. The four-almost five year old-can follow most of the instructions for the more intricate projects shown in the brochure, and both children make up their own structures and designs. Even the 1 year old can "play" with this as the pieces are large enough not to be a choking hazard. by KATHLEEN B 12/30/2011
ANSWER: I believe this toy is appropriate for many ages including 4 year olds. The benefit of this interactive toy is that the child gets to grow with it. At first the connections and learning a child makes may be simple and short in duration but with repeat playing the creations will grow in complexity. This is also a great toy for family members to join in the fun with the child. If you are still concerned with the age appropriateness of this toy, check out the magformers. These are great building toys too! Hope this helps... by F I 12/6/2011
ANSWER: I don't think this too is too young for a 4 yr old. If your 4 yr old loves to build things - plus the additional benefit of learning about magnetic properties - this is a great toy. Very functional for a long period of time. by C K 12/3/2011
