Directions

STEP ONE: In a large bowl, mix 1 cup salt and 2 cups all-purpose flour
STEP TWO: Gradually stir in 1 cup luke warm water. Mix well until the mixture forms a doughy consistency
STEP THREE: With your hands, form a ball with the dough and knead it for at least 5 minutes. (Sue Says: The longer you knead the dough, the smoother the dough will be)
STEP FOUR: Lay your kiddoÍs hand on top of the dough and trace a circular shape around their hand
STEP FIVE: Remove your kiddoÍs hand and use a knife to cut out the circular shape (Sue Says: The excess dough can be stored in an air tight container and you will be able to use it for days!)
STEP SIX: Place your kiddoÍs hand in the middle of the circular shape and have them press into the dough to create a handprint
STEP SEVEN: Let your kiddos go crazy painting their handprint with acrylic paints on a piece of newspaper
STEP EIGHT: Once kiddos are done having their fun and the paint has dried, seal the handprint by painting it with varnish or spraying with polyurethane spray
STEP NINE: Let handprint air dry overnight. (Sue Says: Salt dough creations can also be dried in the oven. Bake at 200 degree until the creation is dry. The amount of time needed to bake will depend on the size and thickness of the creation.)
