Puffy Paint

  • 6 squeeze bottles
  • 6 bowls and spoons
  • canvas (without staples in it) or heavy cardstock
  • Microwave
Ingredients for colors:
  • 1/4 cup self-rising flour
[Sue Says: Make sure the flour is self-rising. It's the most important part!]
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 4 TBSP water
  • A few drops of food coloring or gel icing color
STEP ONE: In a bowl mix 1/4 cup self-rising flour, 1/2 cup salt, 4 TBSP water and food coloring or gel icing [Sue Says: Mix each color batch individually.]
STEP TWO: Mix the ingredients together until smooth and runny

STEP THREE: Pour the mixture into a squeeze bottle
Sue Says: If the mixture is too thick to squeeze out of the bottle, add some more food coloring to the mixture and shake.]
STEP FOUR: Repeat process for each color
STEP FIVE: Give the paints to your kiddos and let them go wild on the cardstock or canvas

STEP SIX: Once the masterpieces are complete, pop them in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds, or until the artwork starts to rise off the paper [Sue Says: It is important NOT to use canvas with staples since you're microwaving-that's a whole different project.]

STEP SEVEN: Hang on the wall and let kiddos enjoy their pieces of art
