#23 Green Slime

  • 2 mixing bowls
  • 8 ounces of ElmerÍs glue (Sue Says: for this particular project, you must use ElmerÍs glue!)
  • Cold water
  • Hot water
  • Green and yellow food coloring
  • Spoon
  • 1 tablespoon Borax (Sue Says: you can find this product in the laundry detergent aisle.)
  • Resealable plastic bag or covered plastic container

STEP ONE: Mix one cup cold water with 8 ounces of ElmerÍs glue in one mixing bowl.
STEP TWO: In the other mixing bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of Borax with _ cup of very hot water. Stir well until the Borax is dissolved. (Sue Says: make sure the water is very hot, but not boiling!)
STEP THREE:Add 10 drops of the green food coloring into the Borax-water mixture. Repeat this with yellow food coloring.
STEP FOUR: Slowly add the hot Borax-water mixture to the ElmerÍs glue-water mixture. Stir with a spoon for a few seconds.
STEP FIVE: Using your hands, reach into the bowl and mix everything together. (Sue Says: in less than a minute, you will have a gooey, non-sticky, stretch material.)
STEP SIX: Store the slime in a resealable plastic bag or covered plastic container. (Sue Says: you can keep the goop for several weeks as long as you refrigerate it when the kiddos arenÍt playing with it!)
