#27 Birdhouse with Cheerio Bird Feeder

Supplies:
  • Build A Birdhouse Kit (Available at Sensational Beginnings for $10.00)
    Kit Contains:
    • Pre-cut wood pieces
    • Paint
    • Paint brush
    • Nails
    • Glue
  • Hammer
  • Piper cleaners
  • Cheerios
  • Ribbon

Directions:
STEP ONE: Follow the Build A Birdhouse Kit instructions to make a new home for the birds as they arrive in the spring.
STEP TWO: Once the birdhouse is complete, let kiddos paint different designs to jazz it up.
STEP THREE:While the birdhouse dries, start working on the bird feeder. Thread the Cheerios onto the pipe cleaners. (Sue Says: leave a little space at each end so you have room to bend the pipe cleaners. Also, if you plan to fold your pipe cleaners into a heart, fold the pipe cleaner in half before threading the Cheerios on to it.)
STEP FOUR: Carefully bend your pipe cleaner into the shape of a heart of circle. (Sue Says: keep the bottom of the pipe cleaners open for now.)
STEP FIVE: Follow the Build A Birdhouse Kit instructions to make a new home for the birds as they arrive in the spring.
STEP SIX: Repeat steps three and four a few more times until you have the desired number of hearts or circles. (Sue Says: I made three and intertwined them together.)
STEP SEVEN:Connect the hearts and twist the ends of the pipe cleaners to close each heart.
STEP EIGHT:Once the birdhouse dries, find a nice spot for it to hang. Attach the ribbon from the top of the birdfeeder to the bottom of the birdhouse so it hangs.
